Matt Silver-Vallance – Chief Business Development Officer
Matt is an entrepreneur, explorer, and ocean enthusiast passionate about using innovation and competition to solve big challenges. He believes racing drives excellence and out-of-the-box thinking, and he applies this mindset to the subsea environment, combining sports and technology to create a deeper understanding of the ocean.
With a background in healthcare, Matt specializes in strategic management and complex quality improvement initiatives. He thrives on assembling teams to tackle seemingly impossible challenges in education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. His approach focuses on aligning adventure with meaningful impact, enhancing humanity’s well-being.
One of his most notable feats was floating from Robben Island to Cape Town using 160 helium balloons, a project that took four years and 140 people to execute.
As part of the SubRacing Series, Matt explores how high-resolution ocean data can drive better diagnostics, similar to healthcare, and how this will optimize a team’s ability to win. He believes that understanding the ocean as a single entity can lead to natural solutions through data-driven insights. His exceptional skills include team-building, problem-solving, and motivating people toward ambitious, fun, and impactful goals.
